Alex, I know you have been planning your magazine but you need to post some evidence of this on here regularly. You should be ready to start production work this week and your blog looks a little thin! Use yur own time now to complete any research you still have to do and get working on your pictures and article etc. I'd like to see you working on your front page this week. You only have 3 and half weeks of lesson time left so you must use your own time for this or you cannot hope to complete this coursework!

The defonithion of defineing
For my target audience i need to get an ideo of who they actually are. I can and will do this in a series of ways. The first being a questionair (coming soon to a classroom near you) and another is by getting to know the actuall people.
I can do this by targeting my friends, or i can reserch the people who are similar. Here is an example. After getting to know my audience i beleve i will be able to define them. However i am going to need to wait for my questionair results to return.
untill such a time: holld tight

idea evolution (like some form of pokemon (c))
I was doing further reserch (based on the fact that my pre-lim cover was boring), to see if i could find any cool effects just to make it interesting. And i stumbled upon this: CLICK!!!
its a tutorial on texter wraping. this made me reolise that was what my Pre-lim was missing: lack of texture. that makes it bland.
i thought that i would use this some how in my cover or double page spread to attract more audience as it is not normal: thus sparks a sence of intrigue.
******later that day******
I was then looking at photoshop tutorials by the same guy and found this: CLICK!!!!!!
I felt this also gave a cool effect to add texture

i now have to do reserch in my own time (joy). Sooooooo i went to google (because it knows all) and typed in "grunge" (because thats the style im going for) and it came up with LOADSSS of cool stuf i can use. here is the search: CLICK ME.
AND THERE IS MORE (oh yes)
i then searched: "grunge photoshop" (because i do most of my work in photoshop) wich then linked me to a page with: 200 GRUNGE STYLE BRUSHES!!!!!!! ( :O I KNOW) so here they are: CLICK ME ASWELL.

Alex,
Well done on completing the prelim and reflection. You now need to get on with research before you get too lost in the planning. Outline what the conventions of music magazines are in general, then choose and upload a front cover, contents and doble pg fetaure from a similar genre mag as your intended product and anlasye how they express genre and target the audience etc. You also need to conduct some primary research - audience questionnaire and summarise/quantify the results. Discuss how you will use your findings to help you plan your product. See checklist for more.

LOL, INSPIRATION (thanks for the help guys)
so, i was sitting in class, talking bout skatin' (sorry miss) and how it can hurt, then thought "hey, i can go with an injury theme for one of my pages". So i went to youtube for help and found this> skateboard bails. . one word to describe this: "OMG I BET THAT HURT, OWCH". okay, six words, but hey through their down fall comes my inspiration so ... thanks? :S
THE PRE-LIM @ ITS END!!!
For my cover i used several types of font which i downloaded from: "dafont.com". i chose mainly stencil and grungie fonts which i thought go with the style and genre.
i also used a picture involving someone pulling a funny face: i felt that this also goes with the rebellious effect.
i also used contrast of colours to create divide in the page: i used a black BG and white text, few text in the middle, but when i did i made it a colour that stands out, and at the base i had a white BG and black font.
i also used a variety of primary colours, for example i used a red and yellow box for the "win" section.
I based my contense off of my research of the magazine "kerrang" but modified it to suit my purpose. I made a rough drawing (top left) of what my final result would look like.

a great idea
so i was wrighting my comment about ideas for my pre-lim' then thought: "hey, i could use the same idea for my main project (course work)". sooooo, i am also going to base my course work off of that video. for those wo cant find it it is in the link in my last post. i will also attempt to upload it to my blog.
INSPERATION STRIKES (whilst on the couch)
i was inspired for my prelimenery task by a hit TV show named: viva la bam. it is a show aimed at the same audience that i have aimed my magazine at. here is the video. this is the opening sequience to the show which is where i got my main insperation from.

initial ideas for my project
I have chosen to do a music magazine. I chose to do this because i believe it would be easy to appeal to a specific target audience as apposed to an un-advertised film. there are certain expectations when the cover of the magazine which i can create, where as if i did a film, i could not do the advertising, so it would be less effective.
i will do a grungie-skater magazine. i chose this because i am familiar with the culture so know what *pushes there buttons*.
the target audience will be mainly skater type, i believe this to be a good genre because *skaters* tend to listen to a range of music from: metal - to - electro rock. a main band to summaries the genre would be impossible. i believe this to be an advantage and a good selling point.
a unique selling point to MY magazine is that there are no other magazines that incorporate music AND skate boarding this is a good combination, in my opinion, as it appeal to two large audiences: skaters and grunge lovers.
There are many skate magazines and a few grungie magazines bot non that incorporate both which makes my Mag. unique.
My product would be successful as i think its unique nature and appeal.
